World's Only Hibernating Primate Has Strange Sleep Patterns

The fat-tailed dwarf lemur hibernates for about seven months each year, and significantly drops its metabolic activity during that time. Researchers have now shown for the first time that the animal still requires bouts of sleep during hibernation.
