Ants Stay Clean by Squirting Antimicrobials from Their Butts

Worker ants in some species emit antimicrobial secretions to sanitize themselves on the forest floor. Now, new research shows that these ants also share their cleaning fluids with young, vulnerable broods to keep their youngsters infection-free.
