'Lake Vampire' Lampreys Caught Spawning | Video

Male lampreys emit heat from a rope-like mass of fat tissue in front of their dorsal fins when they contact females during spawning. Their 'blood sucking' nickname comes from the tendency to attach themselves to fish and feed on their vital fluid.
